Change Device Usage Status

Only Clover Mini devices are capable of switching status. Device usage affects both billing and functionality. The fastest method for determining your device status is by observing whether the Register, Tables, Orders, and Customer apps are grayed out on the home screen.

  • If these apps are grayed out, the device is not being used for creating orders (customer-facing) and device fees are waived.
  • If these apps are not grayed out, the device can be used for creating orders (merchant-facing) and device fees may apply and billed to your account.

You can also verify the device status by navigating to Setup app > Devices > “This Device”  and view which radio button is selected.

Good to know

The default mode for device usage is merchant-facing mode, where monthly charges apply. For free usage, you must set your device to customer-facing mode.
